ICE SCULPTING DEMONSTRATIONS

Friday, January 24, downtown La Porte and Plaza 618 will transform into a frozen art gallery. Sculpting will begin late afternoon and viewing will be available as long as mother nature allows. Thank you sponsor: City's Pure Ice

ICE FISHING DERBY

PRESENTED BY DECAMP BAND OF BROTHERS

Mark your calendar for the annual Ice Fishing Derby, benefiting DeCamp's Band of Brothers, on Saturday, January 25. The derby will be held on Pine and Stone lakes. Haul in that big fish or just recall the one that got away! Put on your thermal underwear, cast those lines, compete for prizes and share your stories.

Registration begins at 5 a.m. day of event at Cummings Lodge.

Fee is $40.

COED SNOWBALL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

SEWING 101 WITH STEADY STITCHERS

Battle the winter cold with your handmade winter gear this season. Join the Steady Stitchers, a Purdue Extension Homemakers Club, for an open class consisting of basic sewing skills to create your own winter hat. Join the class at anytime between 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Pre-registration is required at the Park Office and class size is limited. Call 219-326-9600 or visit 250 Pine Lake Avenue.

All supplies, including sewing machines and instruction will be furnished.

FAMILY FUN DAY - MOVIE AND JUMP-A-THON

Gather your little ones and enjoy an afternoon of cinematic magic and family fun at La Porte Civic Auditorium! Kids Jump Zone by Hot Rod Snow Cones with $5 all-day jump passes (beginning at 1 p.m.) and themed activities precede a FREE showing of the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Free popcorn provided by Centier Bank.

FROSTY'S FROZEN BIKE RIDE

Feeling the winter blahs? Riding a bike in the winter will help beat back those wintertime blues. The FREE event starts at noon with registration while the pedaling takes off at 1 p.m. Participants will begin at the Park Office (250 Pine Lake Avenue), take a leisurely one-hour ride and return to Park Office for some snacks and hot chocolate.

HORSE DRAWN WAGON RIDES

Jingle, jingle, jingle. Take a brisk ride through the beauty of wintry nature while enjoying the majesty of the equine. After a trot through Soldiers Memorial Park, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and treat's from Emmy's Bakery by the fireplace within Cummings Lodge and enjoy a family-friendly craft.
